    Montenegro

    Montenegro (meaning Black Mountain) is a beautiful small country in Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean, situated on the Balkan peninsula. It borders Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Albania and it is separated from Italy by the Adriatic sea.  The capital of Montenegro and its largest city is Podgorica and its secondary and historical capital is Cetinje where the official residence of the president is located. 

    Montenegro has rich natural and cultural heritage – a country of contrasting landscapes and mild Mediterranean climate with 240 sunny days per year and with the average sea temperature of 27° during summer. 

    The nature is what makes this country so special – numerous mountains, magnificent canyons, bays, rivers, lakes and, of course, an Adriatic sea with more than 120 beaches on 293 km long coastline. Montenegro is one of the few countries offering, at the same time, a seaside vacations and a stunning view at the mountains striving to the sea, providing relaxing and idyllic ambience. 

    National parks such as: Biogradska Gora, Lovcen, Skadarsko jezero, Prokletije and Durmitor are also a part of the various tourist offer. 

    Apart from rich natural environment, Montenegro also stands for its cultural and historical monuments such as: the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon in Kotor, Basilica of St. Luke, the monastery of Savina, church Gospa od Škrpjela (Our Lady of the Rocks). The monasteries of Ostrog, Cetinje and Morača are sites of the special importance and one of the major tourist destinations.
